Hello and welcome I am a 50-something “baby boomer” who leads a fun and busy life. I’ve always tried new things–some of which were successful, some not. In my various careers I’ve been a composer, singer, information director for a health organization, programmer, user support specialist, I.T. Manager, tech recruiter, web developer, web development manager, VP product development, internet business consultant, professional photographer, published author, and phew! Is that all? I also have worked in animal rescue, sat on the board of my alumni club, started women’s networking groups, and have been a single mom since my daughter was three. Needless to say, I have an entrepreneurial spirit. My motto is the same as Nike’s: Just Do It.
For a couple of years now I’ve been sharing my recipes, DIY tips, and overall thoughts on various other websites. Mossifer.com is a way to consolidate all of them to one place.
Once upon a time…I grew up in Evanston, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago (GO CUBS!) While attending Northwestern University, I took some computer courses and found I loved programming and was pretty good at it. Although my degree is in music, my graduation coincided with the launch of this little thing called the personal computer. Rather than being a starving artist, I decided to make a career out of programming and gained many clients writing custom business software. When the Internet went public in 1995, I immediately jumped on the bandwagon and started developing for the web. My first “practice” site was a list of baby names and meanings which developed into BabyNames.com, a website I have headed up for over 21 years.I’ve always been an avid reader and writer, and had several articles published in major media outlets. I published a book of baby names in 2008 and In 2012 my first novel was published by Black Opal Books. Town Red was the first in a series of “Mysteries with a Metaphysical Twist.” I also co-wrote Lucky to Live Here, a book about moving to the Yosemite area and a The Baby Names Workbook for expecting parents.
Oh yeah, and somewhere in there I was a professional photographer in Los Angeles where I worked with actors, models, fashion designers, and some celebs.
I currently live in the mountains near Yosemite National Park and head up my own WordPress development business.
This is my life and I love it.
